That's because Overlay.TV launched their Labs website today, showcasing the range of possibilities available using Overlay.TV’s platform by posting recent examples of customized projects Overlay.TV has developed. Projects include an iJustine product “endorsement”, a customized karaoke app for Kidz Bop, a World of Warcraft widget, and an XLSuite free website app for bands. Reference implementation will be provided in open source or CC formats and developers are encouraged to use these to spark creativity.

Additional Features Available on Overlay.TV Labs site (click on projects or forums to find the links):

• YouTube Uploader – With a one-click install, this desktop YouTube AIR app makes it easier to upload videos to YouTube and directly add Overlays with a split screen setup for easy drag and drop. The Overlay.TV app also boasts larger file size limits making room for up to 10 GB instead of the standard YouTube limit of 1 GB.

• Open Community – Those who are not interested in developing applications of their own, but still want the opportunity to test out apps as soon as they become available, are welcome and encouraged to join the Labs community. The site also hosts forums for developer discussions.

The following project examples, created by Overlay.TV, will appear on the Labs site as a basic template for future apps and widgets, and show the range of creative options and customization available using the Overlay.TV platform:

• iJustine Product Endorsement Videos – Thousands clamor for the approval of famed vlogger and social media expert, iJustine. Overlay.TV has partnered with iJustine to produce various product endorsement videos, with a tongue-in-cheek tone, where creators have the power to literally put products in iJustine’s hand.

• Kidz Bop – Kids use this karaoke app to singalong to their favorite songs using lyrics Overlayed in the music video and their singalong appears right inside the video itself.

• World of Warcraft – Checking out in-game videos from top players is a widespread way of getting tips and advancing your game. One thing that is missing from these videos is player stats, and serious gamers always check out stats. This clever widget combines data and video so gamer stats appear alongside the video, all in one place.

•  Free Band Websites – A tool for creating free band websites which includes integration with XLSuite to provide a fan club-building platform along with the video benefits of Overlay.TV’s technology. Bands have five free design options to choose from.

• xvi.com – Overlay.TV provides the video capabilities for this 150,000 member nightlife/music social media site. Area music events are listed, and members can create their own blogs and share their favorite media with friends. Overlay.TV makes it easy to add Overlays to favorite videos, and share them, without ever leaving the community.
